Q- Do you provide a truck? 
A- No, Williamsburg Movers provides moving labour only. You are responsible for renting your own moving vehicle.

 

Q- How do you charge?

A- We charge an hourly rate.

Two person crew. $84.00 per hour.

Three person crew $119.00 per hour.

Four person crew $139.00 per hour. 

We round up charges in 15 minute increments. Example: Crew begins work at 9 o’clock and completes job at 1:50. We round up to 2 o’clock, you will be charged for 5 hours. We have a two hour minimum.     Our crews work nonstop until your job is done.

 

Q- How long will it take to load/unload my truck, trailer, POD?

A- These are the national averages. Your job could take more or less time.

Add 1 hour per flight of stairs.

Adding Crew members will reduce load/unload times.

Drive time between locations is on the clock.

Carry distance to truck 20 to 50 feet add ½ to one hour.

Carry distance to truck over 50 feet add 1 to 2 hours.

 

Q- Can someone drive the truck for me? 
A - Yes, our charges will begin when we pick up the truck and end when we return the truck to the dealer. Please purchase the optional insurance offered for $14.95

 

Q- What size truck do I need or how should I reserve the truck?

Q- Do you offer background checked/drug tested crews?

A- Yes, if this is an important consideration pleases contact us prior to your move date and we will confirm the crew assigned has been background checked/drug tested.

 

Q- Do you do long distance or out of state moves?

A-  No, however many people will hire us to load the truck then drive to their new out of state residence and have a local crew unload. Check out www.movinghelp.com to reserve a 5 star rated mover to unload your truck at your final destination.

 

Q- Are you an experienced company, how many moves will you do in a year?

A- Yes, we have successfully completed over 600 moves in the last 12 months and are a highly rated local contractor for national companies like U-Haul, Moving Helper, PODS, Moving Staffers, Hire a Helper, Pack-Rat, ABF as well as many local businesses and corporations.

 

Q- Do you guarantee your appointment times?

A- Yes with a one hour window due to traffic conditions in the Hampton Roads area. Example, a 9 o’clock appointment time would have us arriving between 9 and 10 o’clock.

 

Q- Do I need to be present when the crew loads/unloads my truck?

A- Yes, it is the customer’s responsibility to make sure all items that you want moved are loaded on the truck as well as directing us which items you would like us to shrink wrap or box for protection. Upon unloading the truck we will place items wherever you like but someone must direct us where you want your items placed.

 

Q- Do the movers supply hand trucks? 
A- Yes and no, when you reserve thru the national truck rental companies they require the customer rent the hand trucks and appliance dollies from them.

 

Q- Do you offer packing?

A- Yes regular hourly rates apply. Customer provides packing materials.

 

Q- Will your hourly rate begin when you arrive on the job or when you begin work?

A- When we begin work. We like to take 10 to 15 minutes reviewing the job with you before we begin work. What are the heaviest items? What items are fragile? Do we need to disassemble furniture or beds? Then we get to work, on the clock.



Q- Do you provide boxes, tape, pacg paper? 
A- No, we suggest U-Haul, Lowes or Home Depot.

 

Q- Will you move my piano or safe?
A- Yes, please let us know in advance so we can bring the proper equipment. Extra fees apply.



Q- How do I pay? 
A- Check or credit card. 



Q- What if I go over my reserved time? 
A- If your moving crew is able to stay they will, but in many cases crews will have several moves in a day, please make sure you book enough time. If the crew is able to stay they will continue to work at your booked hourly rate. 



Q- What if the movers finish early and I prepaid? 
A- We are unable to issue refunds if you have prepaid and the move is completed early, BUT we are available to help with other moving tasks such as unpacking, clean up and arrangement of furniture in your new home. 



Q- What if something doesn't fit? 
A- Our movers will not force anything that could cause damage. If it doesn't fit they will move the item to a location near where you want it to go. Make sure your truck is big enough; always better to go a little larger just to be safe. 



Q- What about my flat screen TV? 
A- Flat screen TV’s should be boxed and ready for loading. We recommend U-Haul Flat Screen Moving Kits; available at U-Haul Centers or online here is the linkhttp://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Boxes/Electronics-boxes/Flat-Panel-TV-Kit?id=16343. We cannot assure you against damage to your flat screen TV if not properly boxed/packed.

 

 

Q- Will you move my mirrors and pictures?

Q- Can you provide custom make crates?

A- Yes.


Q- What if there's damage? 
A- We insure anything that “WE” pack in boxes and unpack or any items you identify for us to wrap in blankets and then shrink wrap at six cents per pound (the national average). We do not insure items we were not instructed to pack in boxes or items not wrapped in blankets and shrink wrap.  

If we ding of scratch walls or furniture we fix it, no problem.

 

Q- Do I (the customer) provide the moving blankets?

A- Yes, the more the better to protect against damages. You can rent blankets at most U-Haul Centers for a very reasonable rate.

 

Q- Some of our furniture is make of pressboard do you insure those pieces against damage?

A-No, pressboard is a poor quality temporary type of furniture material and does not travel, support weight or load well. We use BEST EFFORDS in protecting these pieces against damages.  

 

Q- Can you disconnect my washer/dryer or dissemble/assemble furniture/beds.

A- Yes, but please inform us if advance so we can have the proper tools.

 

Q- What items will you not box or load on the truck?

A- The movers will not pack or load hazardous materials; including paint, household chemicals, medications, food, important papers, jewellery, cash, guns, gas, propane, pets or children.

 


Q- What about my pets, young children or granny?

A- On moving day, conditions in your home may be dangerous for pets, small children. Please make arrangements.

 

Q- Will we have an opportunity to rate your services?

A- Yes, many of the national providers we subcontract with will ask you to rate your customer service experience. Our goal is for all of our customers to receive 5 Star Service and Value, if you feel you received less than 5 Star Services and Value please contact Rick.
